#A-2 - Handy Reference Atlas of the World - by John Bartholomew, with 76 double-page, seamless maps in full-color, plus complete index and geographical statistics. - $195.00

Published in New York by George Routledge & Sons in 1889. Size is 5.5" x 7.5", with 40 pages of text and statistics, followed by 76 maps and a 56 page index. Each colored map is double-page in size and has been bound-in using a cloth hinge at the fold that allows each map to open flat. The colors are bright on all the maps. Bound in blind-stamped maroon cloth stamped and illustrated in gilt on the spine, the top edge is gilt. Condition is VeryGood with bumping and rubbing of the corners and edges, and worn through at a few of these spots. Light fading of the spine. Rebacked and the hinges have been reinforced. A 1" soiled spot on the rear free endpaper, with a lightly stained area on the adjacent page and inside back cover. A couple of other spots of edge soil, but nothing that affects any of the maps. In my judgement, all the maps are of framing quality!
