#FE-13 - John Ermine of the Yellowstone by Frederic Remington - Publ. by MacMillan Co, November, 1904 - First Edition - $150.00

This book is hardbound in pictorial dark brown cloth, embossed and stamped in white on both the front and spine. Measuring approx. 5.5 x 7.75, it has 271 + vii + 4 additional pages of advertisements for other books at the end. There are 18 illustrations by Remington, 8 of which are full-page. The words Copyright, 1902, by The MacMillan Company -- Set-up and electrotyped November, 1902. are on the verso of the title page, and 1902 appears on the title page itself. By way of further proof that this is a true First Edition, the authors name is spelled Reminigton on the spine. This spelling error was corrected in subsequent editions. The outside and bottom edges of all pages are deckled. The top edge is gilt.

The condition is VeryGood, with an inscription and bookplate on the front free flyleaf, the bookplate belonging to the grandfather of the man I bought the book from. The owners signature is on the rear free flyleaf. The binding is reasonably tight, and the hinges are unbroken. The frontispiece has a couple of very short tears (less than 1/4") where it extends a bit beyond the flyleaves preceding it. I saw perhaps a half-dozen light finger smudges in thumbing through the text. Otherwise this book is VeryGood+!
