#IL-1 - The Golden Age - by Kenneth Grahame and with 18 full-page illustrations by Maxfield Parrish - $110.00 In the publisher's note is written... "The publication of this new edition of 'The Golden Age,' the favorite amongst Mr. Kenneth Grahame's favoured books, with the illustrations by Mr. Maxfield Parrish reproduced in photogravure, was accomplished through the kindness of the various owners who gave access to the originals in their respective collections." Published at London and New York by John Lane: The Bodley Head, in 1904. The book is hardbound in pictorial dark green cloth illustrated in four-colors, with gilt titles on the front and spine, and the top edge is gilt as well. Measuring 6.5" x 8.25", there are 252 (+12) pages. The 18 b&w illustrations are on a high quality rag paper, each having its own vellum protector sheet printed with the caption, and then bound-in. The condition is VeryGood, with bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges. The binding is a bit loose, but the hinges are fully intact. The page edges are deckled. Endpapers are illustrated. The front free endpaper has a crease in the UR corner, and "Ex Libris... T.T. Fitch" written in ink at the extremities of the scroll. That same owner's name and address in London are written in pencil on the blank backside of the frontispiece. Otherwise, the interior pages are clean, tight, bright and complete.
