#RH-13 - "On Hawaiian Folk Music" - Published by Island Heritage Ltd. - $25.00

A book by Hawaiians and about their music. Written in both verse and prose by authors such as Samuel Crowningburg-Amale, Herbert Kawainui Kane and Emerson C. Smith, the texts give us a picture of the kinds and importance of music in the life of the Hawaiian people, and a description of many of the unique instruments used by them including a variety of drums, gourds, nose flute and curious leggings made out of dog's teeth on a type of hand-woven netting, to mention just a few. Hard bound, and measuring approx. 9" x 12", it has 68 pages, plus the covers. It is heavily illustrated with colorful drawings and wonderful old b&w photographs.

The condition is VeryGood+, with light bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges, a price sticker, and a bit of light soil on the white covers. Otherwise the book is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete!
