#IL-11 - “Rockwell Kent” by Rockwell Kent - American Artists Group, 1945 - First Edition with Mylar protector - $33.00 “It is the custom when pictures are made into a book to introduce them with a few, or many, words about the artist, or an explanation of the intention of his work. Invited by the publisher to do this for myself, I find myself with nothing in the world to say beyond... in the manner of introducing Presidents and Kings: ‘Ladies and Gentlemen! Here are my pictures’ ” Thus begins this delightful monograph which contains excerpts from 4 of his most treasured books, “Wilderness: A Story of Quiet Adventure in Alaska”, “Voyaging: Southward from the Strait of Magellan”, “N by E,” a story of adventure at sea and of shipwreck on the coast of Greenland, and “Salamina”, a story of life in northern Greenland. Hardbound in illustrated boards, the book measures approx. 4.5” x 6.25”, and has 68 un-numbered pages, almost all of which are illustrated! There is a full color illustration on the first page, several of his woodcuts, plus more than 50 of his paintings! The condition of the book is VeryGood+, with very light rubbing at the corners and edges. The binding is tight, hinges fully intact, and the interior pages are crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete... exceptional condition for one of these small monographs! The book is protected in a mylar protector, and will come to the purchaser thus.
