#NF-17 - “Building the House of Health” - by Odd Albert - Garden City, 1937 - $20.00

Everybody has the dream of owning their own home someday, and most of them dream of being able to plan their own home. Most of us can read floor plans, but few laymen have any useful idea of construction. Should we build a frame house, or concrete, or brick? What is the advantage or disadvantage of solid brick or veneer. Is steel really better than wood? What about flooring, and what should we use for roofing? How about plumbing? Wiring? How should we heat our house... or cool it? To answer these and a hundred other questions, we must have facts. This book was designed to answer many of these basic... and some not so basic questions.

Hardbound, the book measures approx. 8.5” x 11” and has 128 pages. It is extensively illustrated with dozens of floor plans, exterior renderings, cut-away illustrations showing good and bad construction techniques, and nearly 100 photographs! In addition, there are charts and other useful visuals.

The condition is Good, with bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges, and some light soil Inside, the front free endpaper is missing, and there is some toning of the endpapers, a function of the kind of glue that was used at that time. Otherwise the book is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete The dustjacket is in Poor condition, with creases and chipping, and the front flap is detached, but present. It is now in a mylar dustjacket protector which will keep it from any further damage.
