#IL-3 - PICASSO in collaboration with photographer, Edward Quinn - published by Felicie in 1974... it's the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION - $65.00 The book was printed in Paris by DRAEGER, who also published the French First Edition. This remarkable book presents the entire landscape of Picasso's life-work, not by chronology nor style, but rather looking at the continuity of themes reflecting his view of the world. "It presents Picasso first in the way he looked at life; next it tries to show how he assembled its elements". Hardbound in illustrated cloth, it measures 11.25" x 12" and comprises 379 pages. There is bumping and rubbing of the corners and edges, and the hinges are loose, but not cracked. Endpapers are illustrated, and all but a scant few of the pages are crammed with hundreds of plates showing Picasso at work, at play, and of course his works themselves... all with extensive captions and running commentary giving insight into the soul and passion which drove this remarkable artist! Printed on a high-quality, semi-gloss paper, the interior pages are clean, tight and complete, with just a hint of toning at the page-edges. Nearly 100 of the plates are in color, the balance either dealing with a monochrome subject, or in b&w. |
