Hope, with 12 full-page illustrations in colour from drawings by Stephen Baghot de la Bere. - $45.00 A beautifully made book in outstanding condition, starring PUNCH, a centuries-old favorite of British-folk young and old! Published in London by Adam and Charles Black in 1905, this is a First Edition. Hardbound in pictorial tan cloth illustrated in red, green, black and with lettering stamped in gold. It is protected by a mylar book cover. The book measures 6.25" x 8.5" and has 207 + vii pages plus an additional 12 glossy pages of the publisher's ads bound-in in the back. The 12 full-page, plates are done from a very colorful palette, in a bold style. Each is printed on glossy stock with the opposite side left blank. The book is in VeryGood + condition, with light bumping and rubbing of the corners and edges. The top edge of the pages are gilt! A half-inch-long depressed line in the extreme UR corner of the front cover is present but not highly significant. Inside the covers, the endpapers and the pages adjacent to them have some age-toning, and there is a previous owner's bookplate neatly residing on the inside front cover. No other marks or inclusions in the book. The interior pages and color plates are clean, tight, bright and complete with NO faults of any kind. |
