#NF-16 - “Landscape Painting in Watercolor” by Zoltan Szabo - Watson-Guptill, 1979 - $20.00 The spontaneous medium of watercolor is ideal for capturing the fleeting effects of light and color in landscape. A wealth of information is contained in the comprehensive text, enriched by over 300 illustrations, twenty-four of which are full page color plates. Thirty six step-by-step monochrome illustrations vividly guide the reader through every phase of painting the landscape. The author talks about the characteristics of watercolor, the materials and equipment needed, and the colors. He then describes techniques, and suggests ways of achieving texture and pattern, and getting unusual effects. Hardbound in maroon cloth stamped in gold on the front cover and spine, the book measures approx. 8.5” x 11”, and has 183 pages. It is printed on high-quality, glossy stock for the maximum benefit in presenting the detailed illustrations, with almost every page being illustrated. The condition is VeryGood, in a VeryGood dustjacket. There is a light damp stain at the top of the front cover, but no warping of the boards or discoloration inside. A previous owner’s name and a bookstore stamp are on the front free flyleaf. The dustjacket has two small chips as the only fault, and is enclosed in our mylar dustjacket protector. The binding is tight, the hinges are tight and unbroken, and the interior pages are crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete!
