#C-4 - "An American ABC" - by Maud & Miska Petersham - Macmillan Co., 1941 - 2nd Printing - 28 Color Illustrations - $15.00

This book was published by Macmillan Co., in 1941, and is a stated 2nd. printing. Award-winning Maud and Miska Petersham are the authors and illustrators of this totally American ABC. From "A is for AMERICA, the land I love" to "Z is for ZEAL, an American trait", this book goes through the alphabet one letter at a time, the text on the left, and a full-page color illustration on the right. Some interesting choices include "E is for Emigrants", "H is for Henry Hudson", "K is for Knickerbocker", "Q is for Quaker", "S is for Simon Bolivar" and "Y is for Yankee Doodle"! Measuring 8" x 10", it has 56 pages plus the colored endpapers and covers.

The condition is Good, with some soiling, plus bumping and rubbing of the corners and edges where there are a few spots where the underlying boards have become exposed. The binding is a bit loose but the hinges are not broken. A label for the Children's Fund of Michigan is on the inside front cover, and there are "little finger" smudges on many pages. Otherwise the book is clean, bright and complete, with no tears or other serious faults! A very acceptable reading copy.
