#C-25 - "Pinocchio in Africa" - Translated from the Italian by Angelo Patri - Illust. By Charles Copeland - Publ. by Ginn & Co., 1911 - $12.00

Hardbound in green cloth, blind-stamped in dark green on the front cover and spine, the book measures approx. 4.75" x 7" and has 152 pages. The endpapers, both front and back are illustrated with a montage of scenes from various other stories in the "Once Upon a Time" series. The book is illustrated with more than 6-dozen humorous drawings by noted illustrator Charles Copeland.

This is a continuation of the adventures of Pinocchio in which he meets various animals in a traveling circus, and, making friends with them, he becomes enchanted with the idea of going to Africa... their original home. He finally resolves to go, and being made of wood, he decides to swim to the Continent across the Mediterranean. The rest of his adventures are chronicled in this wonderful little book. A humorous read, and great moral fable without becoming overbearing about it!!!

The condition is VeryGood. There is bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges, with a bit of fraying at the top and bottom of the spine. However the cover is otherwise clean and without any major faults. The binding is intact, as are both hinges. There is a previous owner's name stamped in ink on the front-free flyleaf. I saw a half-dozen pages with light smudges of handling soil, and one page with a 1" edge tear. Otherwise the interior of the book is clean, tight and complete.
