#OZ-2 - “The Emerald City of OZ” - by L. Frank Baum - 1910 - $125.00 Reilly and Lee Co., Chicago, 1910. Hardcover. No Dustjacket, as published. Book Condition: VeryGood+. John R. Neill illustrations. The 6th of Baum’s stories of the Land of OZ, this is the tale of how Dorothy, her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, all come to live in the Marvelous Land of OZ permanently. There are also further adventures for Dorothy, Ozma and their friends, involving a confrontation with Ruggedo, the Gnome King. Bound in orange cloth, this edition was published around 1935, (as confirmed by Hanff, Greene, et al. “Bibliographia Oziana”). without any color plates, but dozens of Neill’s b&w illustrations. The paste-down color illustration on the front cover is bright and in fine condition, very light bumping and rubbing to the extremities, a couple of spots of soil on the back cover, light soiled area on lower right-hand exposed page edges (as seen with the book closed), hinges and text block are intact and tight, illustrated front and back end-papers, a girl’s name in in the space provided on the Ownership page. NO other faults. This book is one any child or collector would be proud to own and display!
