#C-27 - "Humpy, Son of the Sands" by Hamilton Williamson - First Edition - Illustrated by Berta & Elmer Hader - Doubleday, Doran & Co., 1937 - $20.00

Hardcover in illustrated paper-covered boards, the book measures approx. 7" x 8.5", and has 48 unnumbered pages. It is a stated First Edition. The story is about a camel named Humpy who lived in a sandy Desert. He is still young and learning to be a resourceful camel from his mother. They are sold to a man who lives away from the city where the story opens, and have a harrowing adventure on the way to his home. Humpy ends up saving the day, and is treated with great respect in the end! The end papers, front and back are illustrated, as is almost every page throughout the book. There are 29 illustrations, 12 of which are in full-color, and the majority of those being double-page!

The book is in Good condition in a Good dustjacket. The dustjacket is lightly chipped at the corners and edges, with a scuff in the UR corner of the front panel. It is secure from further damage in its protective mylar jacket cover. The cover is lightly bumped and rubbed at the corners and edges, and the paper cover is lightly foxed. Front and back illustrated end papers are also foxed, and a gift inscription is in ink on the front free flyleaf. Otherwise, the interior of the book is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete, with tight binding and hinges. A scarce and valuable book in.
