Neill illustrations. The 23rd of L. Frank Baum’s stories of the Land of OZ, this is a tale that includes Mogodore the Mighty of the Land of Barons, a Red Jinn and a City of Scares, and how the Emerald City is invaded. How all this is reconciled and the Marvelous Land of OZ is restored to peace and happiness is within these pages penned by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Bound in gray cloth, this is a First Edition, (as confirmed by Hanff, Greene, et al. “Bibliographia Oziana”). without all 12 original color plates, plus dozens of Neill’s b&w illustrations. The paste-down color illustration on the front cover is bright with just a few rubbed spots, bumping and rubbing to the extremities with a tip of the underlying board peeking through at the LR, sunning of the spine, text block and hinges are intact and tight, with the latter having been professionally strengthened, illustrated end-papers. NO other faults.
