#C-42 - "Tal of the Four Tribes" by Herbert Best - Illustrated by Erick Berry - Doubleday, Doran & Co., 1938 - Stated First Edition w/DJ - $12.00 The story of an African youth who helps save his tribe from dissolution, and eventually becomes their spiritual leader. Written for boys of middle or high school age. The endpapers are illustrated in red and gray, with a map encompassing the region where most of the action takes place. Many other illustrations in b&w throughout the text. Hardbound in brown cloth, illustrated and lettered in black on the front panel and spine. The condition is VeryGood, with light bumping at the corners and edges of the spine. The dust jacket has a light haze of soil, and there is some chipping at the corners and top and bottom of the spine. A former owner's bookplate is on the inside front cover.. The binding is tight. There is light toning of the endpapers. Otherwise the book is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete inside and out. |
