The book presents for children of middle-school age the dramatic story of adventure, heroism and imagination surrounding Thomas Jefferson, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, and the opening of the Louisiana Purchase, which was undoubtedly the most important, single, post-Revolutionary War event in shaping the country we live in today! With a double-page map of the route, and more than 6-dozen two-color illustrations by the author, this is an exciting telling of the exploit which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2005! The condition of the book is FINE, in a NearFine dustjacket, which comes in our mylar dustjacket protector. The hinges are tight and the interior pages are crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete, like new! With the exception of one 1/2" tear at the top of the back panel of the dustjacket, this book is without any other faults inside or out!
