#CP-20 - ca. 1890 Chromolithograph of Cinderella - Matted and backed... ready to frame - $25.00

This print is a Chromolithograph, a technique used in the 19th century and before to make color prints, through the laborious process of applying each color using a separate, hand-carved stone. This particular example was produced by the application of 6 different stones, one each for red, yellow, tan, gray, blue and black. Perhaps the most difficult part of the process was making sure that each inked stone was "registered" very carefully, otherwise a strangely fuzzy image would be the result due to the colors appearing in places they weren't supposed to. The registration of this print is virtually perfect, resulting in a very crisp image with very dramatic color! Since each print had to be hand-printed, individually, each is an original, even though a casual observer would think they were all the same.  A delightful way to decorate your childs room and offer him/her many hours of inspirational and imaginative thought.

The moon can be seen peeking out from behind some clouds in the UL, with the Prince peering out of the open doorway at the UR. One of Cinderella's slippers can be seen on the steps behind her as she flees from the castle at the stroke of midnight.

The image area is approx. 6" x 8.25", and the print has then been matted and backed, using acid-free materials, to an overall size of 11" x 14", a standard size. This means that one could easily and inexpensively frame the print using any of the off-the-shelf frames made for that size, available at Wal-Mart, Target, or other big-box stores. The print has also been shrink-wrapped for protection. The large label in the UR corner is on the outside of the shrink-wrap which, of course, would be removed prior to inserting in a frame.

The condition of both mat and print is FINE, with NO faults whatever!
