#RP-8 - "Cashmere Bouquet Toilet Soap" by Maxfield Parrish - 1902 magazine ad for Colgate & Company - $35.00

This advertisement pictures the little Dutch Boy character which Parrish created for Colgate in 1898. This one features a whole host of Colgate products in the display below the wash basin. The text at the bottom of the page describes each of the different products pictured above. Parrish, of course is recognized as the most popular commercial artist of the early 20th century. Though his early work was inhabited by all manner of quaint characters and nubile young women, he abandoned this genre in the early 1930's and devoted himself exclusively to landscapes from that time until his death in 1966.

The condition is VeryGood, with 3 short closed tears (1/2" 3/16" and 1/2") at the right margin. These are not readily noticed at a normal viewing distance. The piece has been matted, using acid-free materials, and shrink-wrapped for protection. The label in the UR corner is on the outside of the shrink-wrap, which, of course, would be removed prior to framing. Can be shipped either flat as shown, or un-mounted and loosely rolled in a mailing tube. Purchaser is asked to choose one of these alternatives when requesting a quote.
