#AP-18 - "They Wanted Jell-O" by Rose O'Neill - 10" x 14" - 1919 Ad for Jell-O - $20.00 This delightful original advertisement was published in the March, 1919 issue of "Pictorial Review" magazine. In it, the children are apparently not too happy with the baked apples their mother lovingly prepared for them. I wonder why? Even when she was trying to depict "normal" children, O'Neill's trademark KEWPIE cowlick just magically snuck in there! The image area is given in the title bar above. Overall matted size is 14" x 18"... a standard size, meaning that you should find ready-made frames for that size at discount outlets like Wal-Mart, Target and other big-box stores. The piece is double-matted using acid-free, archival-grade materials, mounted on a foam-core backing and then shrink-wrapped for protection. The label is on the outside of the shrink-wrap which, of course, would be removed prior to framing the piece. The condition is NearFine. What appears to be a faint smudge along the right-center margin is the same color blue as the little girl's dress and shoes, and is presumed to have occurred as the sheet came off the press. Otherwise this piece is crisp, clean and bright as the day it was printed! |
