#AP-11 - "Venus Remembered" - Signed and Annotated Print by noted California Photographer, Paul Paree - 1975 - $125.00 Paul Paree is an award-winning, Los Angeles photographer, now retired, who's Venus series of photographs were the subject of an exhibition at the California Museum of Science and Industry in 1975. This 11" x 11" photolithographed print was done for CMSI from Pauls original 2.5 x 2.5 negative... for use in an announcement card for that exhibit. However, the museum subsequently decided that the cost of that large an announcement card was too prohibitive, so it was never used. To see several actual photographs and montages from this series, go to our listings in the "Photographs" section of this website. The penciled annotation and signature on the back are in Paul Paree's own hand, and were done for our benefit after we contacted Paul for information about the history of several items we had purchased from an estate. This personally inscribed copy is one-of-a-kind, and is powerful provenance for this piece. The print has been double matted in such a way that both the print and the annotation on the back are visible (by turning the matted piece around)... matted size being 11" x 14". The condition of both print and matting is Fine, with NO faults! It has been shrink-wrapped for protection, and the label you see in the UR corner is on the outside of the shrink-wrap. This piece and others you'll see on our website were purchased, by us, from the estate of Stuart Iverson, former Creative Director for CMSI, and the person who designed the Paree exhibit there. We can provide additional provenance and a history of this series, if interested, and prospective buyers are invited to inquire further. |
