#OM-23 - January 14, 1922 “Pantomime” Magazine - $20.00 Back before the “talkies”, film-making was all about the photography and the ability to act and emote before the camera. Sure it was melodramatic... part of that being the times, and part of it being the requisites of telling a story with only subtitles and perhaps a piano player in the theater to enhance the acting. This magazine gives one some insight into the world of motion picture making of that time. Measuring approx. 8.75” x 11.75”, it has 32 pages. On page five, among the first group of photographs, is a picture of Mary Pickford clowning in her own home, and another of Lon Chaney and Wallace Beery squaring off. Other early actors in scenes from their pictures include Norma Talmadge, Lewis Stone, Bebe Daniels, Barbara Bedford, Richard Dix, Pola Negri, Douglas Fairbanks with Mary Pickford, and more. There are reviews of several pictures, and many other insights into the industry of that time. The condition is VeryGood+, with a corner crease and a 1/4” tear at the LR corner of the front cover, some light rubbing along the spine, and a 1” and a 1.5” split along the spine. Otherwise, the magazine is clean, tight, bright and complete!
