#COM-1 - ca. 1930 Conoco Oil Map of Colorado - $15.00 Measuring 18” x 23.75”, and folding down to 4” x 9”, this map shows all of Colorado with portions of adjacent Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. An enlarged map of Yellowstone National Park plus a map of the Western U.S. and portions of 3 Western Canadian Provinces are on the opposite side. The main map is printed in two shades of blue, red and tan on yellow, while the opposite side is printed in navy blue. Of great interest on this map (and actually those of many other parts of the U.S. prior to WWII), is the fact that only portions of Colorado State Hwy. 1, and parts of a few other highways leading east across the plains are paved. The balance of the states highways were graded gravel or dirt, and rural roads were either graded dirt, or unimproved dirt, sand or other bad roads! The condition is VeryGood+, with light bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges of the outside panels, along with a bit of very light soil. I see 4 points where file-folds intersect, where there are small separations. On one of the front panels I see a light impression of “Spencer Auto Company” and a smudge or two between the Conoco symbol and “Colorado”. Otherwise the map is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete.
