#CiM-8 - 1926 Map of Los Angeles and vicinity + Compton-Lynwood and vicinity - 17” x 28” - $25.00 This map was published by Clason Map Co. for Security Trust & Savings Bank. It shows the L.A. Basin from Malibu on the west, Palmdale on the north, Banning on the east and San Juan Capistrano on the south. It is printed in red and black on white. The opposite side has a map of Compton & Lynwood, plus Watts, Southgate, Downey and Bellflower. The balance of this side... nearly half of the area is employed with commercial messages relating to the benefits offered by Security Trust & Savings Bank. Note that this map is so early that Pacific Palisades (chartered and platted in 1922), is not yet significant enough to be shown on this map... nor does it show Sunset Blvd. extended beyond Benedict Canyon! Open, the map measures 17” x 28”, and folds down to approx. 3.5” x 8.5”. The condition is VeryGood-, with a 4” split at one end of the horizontal file fold. This we have professionally repaired using Filmoplast-P, an archival grade, non-staining, nearly invisible paper tape that will not yellow. A couple of pinholes (about 1/16”) at junctions of file folds, and some light handling soil is seen on the two outside panels and edges (as exposed when the map is viewed in its folded state). Otherwise this map is clean, tight, and complete!
