#COM-11 - 1940 Conoco Map of California & Nevada - 18” x 24” - $10.00 This map was published by H.M. Gousha Company, for the Continental Oil Company. Printed in red, dark blue and green on pale yellow, it features a map of California and Nevada, with portions of extreme western Arizona. The two maps are marked with small blue triangles wherever a Conoco station was located. The opposite side features a large map of Yosemite N.P. and smaller maps of Sequoia N.P. and Lassen N.P.. Local street maps of Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and San Diego are also provided. Being well before the advent of freeways, it is interesting to see how people got around when the world was moving at a more leisurely pace! Trace Route 66 from its beginning in Hollywood to Kingman, Arizona. Countless strange places and relics (long dead diners, tourist attractions and other strange sights) still stand along that storied highway to Chicago... though now eclipsed by the super highways that have bypassed them. It’s old maps like these that show the way to those still interested in reliving that era by following the old tracks! Measuring approx. 18” x 24”, the folded size is approx. 4” x 9”. The condition is VeryGood+. Other than some light stains on the front panel (as seen in our scan of this map when folded), this map is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete... one you’d be proud to display!
