#COM-7 - 1934 Conoco Map of Texas - 18” x 24” - $6.00 This map was published by H.M. Gousha Company, for the Continental Oil Company. Printed in red, dark blue and green on pale yellow, it features a map of Texas, with portions of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana showing. Each of these states is marked with small blue triangles wherever a Conoco station was located. A portion of Mexico along the Rio Grande is also shown. The opposite side features a map of the U.S. as well as Dallas and Ft. Worth. Because of the age of this map, don’t be surprised to see portions of several major highways and many lesser roads still marked as having only gravel or dirt surfaces! Measuring approx. 18” x 24”, the folded size is approx. 4” x 9”. The condition is Good, a study copy only. There are 2 holes (approx. 1/2” in diameter) at intersections of file folds in the center of the map. These are located south of Ft. Worth near Hillsboro and the second being just east of the SE boundary corner of New Mexico, near Midland. A 1/2” semicircular chip is missing at the outside edge of the file fold joining the two above holes. All of these aforementioned were the result of a small piece having been removed from the UL corner of the map while in the folded state (see our scan). One other 1/8” hole is at another such intersection (somewhat hidden in the Lincoln N.F. in New Mexico). The two exterior panels (when folded) are soiled and dingy. That having been said, this map is still useful as a reference giving valuable information about road development within the state, also numerous points of interest and/or historical importance (some of which I’ve not seen on other maps of this state), no mention of Big Bend N.P.... and probably other things as well. Priced as a study copy only.
