#NPFM-3 - 1949 Map of Gifford Pinchot N.F. - 20” x 27” - $12.00 This exquisite map is a bit unusual, since it is printed on glossy stock! Printed in black, with red used to denote roads, campgrounds and the Pacific Crest Trail. The map is laid-out with Township; Range and Section lines, plus the National Forest boundaries all in black. The map extends from Portland, Or. on the south to the southern glaciated slopes of Mt. Rainier. On the opposite side, in addition to the cover (shown), there are eleven informational panels. These include one with a portrait of Gifford Pinchot, America’s first professional forester and first Chief of the U.S.F.S.! Another panel provides background information regarding Gifford Pinchot N.F.. The other 9 panels are graced with captioned photographs of scenes within the forest’s boundaries... including Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams! Open, the map measures 9” x 12”, and folds down to a standard 4” x 9”. The condition is NearFine, with only the barest of hints of ever having been handled. Suitable for framing!
