#SOM-1 - 1941 Calso Map of Montana - $18.00 Measuring 18” x 23.5”, and folding down to 4” x 9”, this map shows all of Montana with portions of adjacent British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada, and Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota in the states. An enlarged map of Glacier National Park plus a map of the entire U.S. are on the opposite side. Calso was the brand name of Gasoline sold by the California Company in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska and the Dakotas. In other states the brand name was Standard... (Standard Oil of California). Of great interest on this map (and actually those of many other parts of the U.S. prior to WWII), is the fact that parts of a few major U.S. and state highways, and most rural roads, were either gravel or dirt! This is one of the things that reminds me just how far our country has progressed since I was born in 1940. The condition is NearFine, with a 1/16” chip at the bottom of one outside panel and the barest hint of rubbing at the edges. Otherwise this map is as close to brand new as one could expect!
