#SM-9 - “Alaska Pocket Map” by U.S. Dept. of the Interior - 1941 - $35.00

Though the cover shows minor signs of wear, the map contained within is about as perfect as one could wish for! Measuring approx. 20” x 28” it has 4 file-folds necessary for it to reside totally within the 5” x 7” cover. “Showing cities, towns, railroads, principal highways, glaciers, rivers, mountain peaks and ranges, harbors, lakes, salt water passages, national parks and monuments.” (from the front cover) This map was distributed by The Alaska Sportsman Magazine... probably just before Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent fortifying of this region of vulnerability to attack from that enemy. None of the text on the outside or inside of the covers mentions that attack.

The condition of the map is NearFine, fresh, crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete...with the file folds as the ONLY “fault”. The cover is bumped and rubbed at the corners and edges, and bears a few spots of light soil. Otherwise the cover is clean and fully intact, with no tears, holes or other damage!
