#OCM-3 - 1936 Shell Oil Map of Nevada & Utah - 18” x 24” - $25.00 This map was published by H.M. Gousha Co. for The Tide Water Associated Oil Company. Printed in red, green and dark blue on yellow, aqua blue used for lakes, with National Parks and Monuments shaded in pink, this is a very colorful map. Though the colors may seem strange at first, they work together quite well. As with most maps produced prior to WWII, this one shows just how rudimentary the road system was compared to what we expect today. Gravel and dirt roads were the rule at this time, with paved highways being few, and outside of major cities and market towns, often far between! The back side of the map has a complete map of the U.S., a radio log for the Western U.S., a detailed touring map of Zion National Park, and street maps for Ogden, Salt Lake City and Reno. All this, and loads more information, is easily seen at a glance on this map! Measuring approx. 18” x 24”, the folded size is approx. 4” x 9”. The condition is Fine, with hardly a hint of ever having been handled. You’ll find this map to look almost as if you’d bought it right off the rack in 1936, and then put it away in a safe deposit box that very day. Enough said!
