#MISCM-10 - 1941 AAA Map of South Central United States - $10.00 Measuring 24” x 38”, this map shows all of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas, with parts of Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. The opposite side also shows all of Mexico. The most valuable aspect of these maps is that they show just how many roads were still gravel... or graded dirt... or even unimproved dirt. Perhaps even more striking are where roads were as yet not built or just under construction! This is much more widespread in Mexico, where the only paved road in Baja California is from the U.S. border to Ensenada. The road from Nogales to Guaymas is gravel, with only dirt roads beyond that all the way to Tequila... about 25 miles west of Guadalahara! Other than Mexico CN-1 to Mexico City and CN-2 through 4 from Mexico City to Vera Cruz, Acapulco and Guadalahara, there are few other paved roads, all very short, in the entire country! Other information are populations of all cities and towns shown (Mexico not included), and a list of Hotels, Inns, Resorts, Courts, Restaurants and Garages for each of the states... by city, and including the number of rooms available, number of baths and the rates for singles and doubles! Finally, there is a list of the major, dependable bridges across the Mississippi. The condition is VeryGood+, with some light soil on the two outside panels (when folded), a brief pencil notation and a few fly specks. Otherwise this map is very nice appearing!
