#TOC-2 - 1935 Texaco Map of the Dakotas - 22” x 28” - $8.00 This map was published by Rand, McNally & Company, for the Texaco Oil Company. Printed in red, dark blue, green and yellow on pale yellow, it features a map of both North and South Dakota, with portions of the adjacent states and Canada. The opposite side features a map of the U.S. and southern Canada, plus smaller local maps of Grand Forks, Pierce, Fargo, Bismark, Minot and Sioux Falls. The U.S. and Canada map is marked and keyed to a list of National parks and Monuments. It should come as a surprise to nobody that at this time the great majority of the state’s highways were still only graded gravel. Lesser rural roads are almost without exception shown as dirt... either graded or ungraded! Measuring approx. 22” x 28”, the folded size is approx. 3.5” x 7.25”. The condition is VeryGood, with a half-dozen splits along file-folds, which we have repaired with Filmoplast-P, an archival-grade, non-staining, almost invisible paper tape A few very light smudges on the two exposed panels... as seen when the map is in the folded state (see our scan). Otherwise this map is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete!
