#PB-20 - “Martha Graham and Dance Company” - 1948 Program Booklet - $35.00

This booklet measures approx. 9” x 12” and has 16 pages plus the covers. Within its pages are more than 2-dozen photographs of dance productions by members of the company, including Miss Graham herself, plus an additional 18 portraits of principals in the company. Articles within are titled “Story of a Dancer”; “The Theater of Martha Graham”; “Program Notes by the Critics”... for 14 different dance productions; “Erick Hawkins”... principal male dancer; “A Superb Dancing Company”; “Short Biography of Martha Graham”; “Retrospective”; “Music and Dance - A Fable”; and “Where Martha Graham goes, there goes a Revival in the Arts”. The booklet came to us through the estate of Stuart Iverson, former artistic director of the California Museum of Science and Industry, who obtained it through the estate of Hubert Julian Stowitts. Stowitts was a former dance partner of Anna Pavlova for 5 years, during the late 19-teens and early 1920’s.

The condition is VeryGood+, with light bumping and rubbing at the corners and edges, and some very light spots of soil on the outside of the covers. Otherwise this piece is crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete!
