#FT-5 - Kootenay National Park - Banff-Windermere Highway Booklet - 1928 - $35.00

Softbound in a s-color illustrated card cover, and measuring approx. 6” x 8.5”, this booklet has 48 glossy pages, plus 2 foldout maps in the back. These maps measure approx. 8” x 7.75” and 8” x 8.75”, are printed in black and red, plus blue is used to denote major bodies of water. The booklet was authored by J.B. Williams, for the Canadian Department of the Interior, and published in 1928.

The purpose of the booklet is to give a detailed written and visual description of the road stretching from Firlands and nearby Radium Hot Springs on the Columbia River, over the mountains and thence following the Kootenay River to its junction with the Vermilion, and then continuing upstream along the Vermilion River, over the Vermilion Summit and down to the Bow River above Banff, most of which route being within the borders of Kootenay National Park. Illustrating the text are 34 photographs, plus one additional detailed map of the park and the road described above. An addendum in the back of the booklet gives a detailed mileage log of that route.

The condition is NearFine, with very light handling soil along the edges of the front cover and only slightly more on the back cover. On the first inside page is a 3-line item which reads: “E. Valentine - Golden Lodge - Golden, B.C.”, handstamped in purple ink. Otherwise the interior of the booklet, and the two foldout maps are fresh, crisp, clean, tight, bright and complete, with NO other faults!
