#MIS-9 - "Le LIDO" - ca. 1930 brochure for a Swimming, Spa and Social club in Paris... In French! - $35.00 This fabulous brochure is an invitation to join what was apparently a pretty swank club at 78 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris, 17e. The club consisted of facilities for swimming, bathing, hydrotherapy, dancing to live orchestras, cocktails, dinner and various live entertainments... and even "L'heure de venise" (an hour in Venice), where one took one's sweetheart on a gondola ride through a Venetian setting! The brochure measures 5" tall by 8.5" wide, and has 16 pages printed in russet and deep teal green. Every page is illustrated by either photographs of the club interior or striking Art Deco drawings of people enjoying the various activities of the club. The back page is a schedule of fees for the various services available at the club. All text is in French. The condition is VeryGood+, with light bumping at the corners, a hint of light soil on the back cover and in the extreme LR corner of the front. There is a bit of rust on the single staple, leaving a light stain where it shows on the centerfold page (see scan). Our scans, sadly, can't do justice to the fantastic detail you'll see in the actual brochure itself, but we hope they help to give you an idea of what you'll get when you add this scarce brochure to your collection.
