#MIS-7 - "SACAM Esso Service" - ca. 1932 Novelty service reminder from a Paris dealer... In French! - $20.00 If you ever wanted a unique advertising piece to add to your STANDARD OIL collection, this is the one! SACAM was a service agency of Standard Oil Francaise des Petroles, S.A. Paris, located at 62-64 Boulevard de Reimes, Paris (17e). The telephone number given is GAL. 75-63. The personalized brochure begins: "Votre voiture, Monsieur Tatem, représente un capital que vous devez sauvegarder..." (translation: "Your car, Mr. Tatem, represents a capital [investment] you should safeguard..."). It goes on to suggest that Mr. Tatem bring his automobile in to the agency for service to include an oil change with "Esso Huile pour Moteurs" (Esso Motor Oil). The well designed brochure has a front page which looks like a closed safe. Voila! When the safe is opened, there inside is an automobile, formed of red plastic (bakelite?), which has been pasted in a white sunburst area. Opening the brochure further exposes the complete message, agency location info and a graphic showing a can of Esso Huile pour Moteurs. The brochure measures approx. 4.5" x 7" closed, and 14" x 7" when fully opened. All text is in French. The condition is VeryGood+, with light bumping and rubbing at the corners, and two small paper remnants clinging to the picture of the can of motor oil... having been lifted from the facing page... probably left by contact with a small amount of excess adhesive transferred from the plastic car of another brochure laid on top of this one during an assembly line procedure at the printers. This does not seriously detract in our estimation, however, check out the close-up photo to satisfy yourself.
