#CAT-11 - 1923 Catalog of Victor Records... with Biographical Sketches, Opera Plots and New Portraits - Published by the Victor Talking Machine, Co. - $25.00

This remarkable catalog contains listings and descriptions of what appears to be thousands of records. It is illustrated with photographs of many of the artists, and scenes from many operas as well. Some of the operas described within these pages are either no longer performed, or performed so infrequently as to amount to almost the same thing. For this reason, this becomes a sort of historical who's who, and what was what of that day and age. Included in each listing are the catalog number (which also appeared on the record label), the size and the price, in addition to the name of the piece, the performer(s) and in some cases, a description of the contents! All of this is organized alphabetically by the title of the song or performance. There is also a Red Seal Section which is organized by the name of the artist.

The covers are a mottled dark green faux leather cardstock, stamped in gold, and embossed with the famous "His Master's Voice" logo. Condition is very good, with two repaired 1" tears to the front cover and a crease at the bottom corner of the back cover. It measures 5" x 7.25" and has hundreds of pages, though these aren't numbered. The interior pages are clean, tight, bright and complete with NO FAULTS noted other than a couple of minor corner creases. A remarkable reference of the entertainment world of the 1910's and early 1920's!
