#MP - 7 - Original 8” x 10” Color Photograph of the “Atlas Sky Merchant” - DC-4 flagship of Standard Oil of New Jersey - ca. 1948 - $20.00

This photo clearly shows the name “Atlas Sky Merchant” on the nose below the cockpit windows. The word “Atlas” is on each engine cowling, and in large letters, vertically, on the tail rudder. Further, “Atlas Tir(es) can be seen above the red stripe. Near the tail are some 50 or so flags of countries visited by this goodwill flagship of the company.

With the photo will come a brief history of the January 13 - April 15, 1948 round-the-world flight made by this plane, and the circumstances surrounding it. Further, we provide the names of the pilots, pilot advisers and more, in the way of provenance. We purchased this original photo from the retired secretary of the man who was Vice-President of Sales for Standard Oil of New Jersey in 1948.

The condition of the photo is FINE, crisp, clean, and without any visible faults.
