#AKP-1 - Skagway, Alaska birds-eye view - An exceptionally sharp, vintage photo of the city, piers, surrounding mountains and valley. Considerable legible signage! This came from the estate of a descendant of a Dr. Whitfield who practiced dentistry in Ketchican, having arrived there around 1900... possibly taken by him or his wife. Image area is 7" x 10.25", mounted in an 11" x 14" matte and shrink-wrapped. Price: $45.00 Skagway is identified in pencil in the LL margin. Among the legible signs on buildings are "Klondike Trading Company", "John Kalem, Wholesale Grocer", "Astoria" (hotel?), "Yukon Outfitters" and the U.S. Hotel! Slightly silvered at the bottom, and some creasing or crackling at the edges, but not enough to seriously detract. |
