#AKP-10 - Snapshot Looking Up McKinley St., Valdez, Alaska, July 6, 1914” - $30.00 One of more than 100 photos we purchased from the estate of Mrs. W. B. Whitfield, who, in 1900, traveled to Ketchkan, Alaska with her dentist husband, who set up practice in that city. According to her daughter she was also the photographer. It measures approx. 3.25” x 5.4”, and the above caption, in quotes, is in pencil on the back side of the photo. Note the man, standing in the middle of the street, bending over (his camera?). There are signs at the left which read “Exchange Bar”, “Mill Room” and “Delmonico Co.”. Other illegible signs, banners and flags are discernible on down the street. The condition is VeryGood, with light bumping at two corners. There are some spots in the sky, a flare at the LR and a dark band above the head of the man standing in the street. These latter faults are in the negative. Otherwise it is crisp, clean, and bright and with a slightly soft focus in the foreground, becoming more-so in the background.
