#AD-8 - Quirky Death's Head Postcard titled "In The Swim" - Copyright by "Blaesi & Bell" and Autographed "AMcC Bell 1904"! - $75.00 This may be the strangest card in our entire stock. The death's head is wearing a cap and goggles, smoking a cigarette and surrounded by wrench and oil can. Whether this is supposed to symbolize a motorcycle or automobile fanatic is not clear. The copyright notice is given as 1905, but both the Bell autograph and the message are dated 1904. The message reads: "Yours always for many a spin for health and happiness. May never a cloud dim your carrier is the wish of a friend in Monterey, California 1904 'Conrad' ". The postmark is from Monterey, Cal. Oct. 9, but the last digit of the year, sadly, didn't print clear enough to read. The condition is VeryGood, with a light crease (more like bends than hard creases), and some light ink transfers in the UL corner... from lying next to another freshly postmarked piece. Otherwise clean and bright!
